Secondary Fume Extraction System for EAF
Electric Arc Furnace is known as EAF. This EAF is with top cover and this cover contains the primary suction hole known at 4th hole. The fumes generated in side the furnace needs to be extracted thru this hole only but as this is a complete closed furnace the temperature of the fumes extracted are very high so water cooled ducts are must to install. Once the fumes are extracted it has to travel to the gas cooler or heat exchanger in order to cool down the temperature and then to the pulse jet bag filter or bag house to filter the fumes. Once furnace fumes are filter it goes thru atmosphere thru ID fan and stack or chimney. The outlet emission after these systems can be achieved as low as 2 mg/nm3 depending on the pollution control norms at the location. EAF Furnaces generally needs both Primary and secondary FES, dog house type fume extraction system is not possible with this furnace.
